A seat at Champlin's on a clear summer day affords a view of Block Island, and a chance to sample "the best fried scallops in South County, maybe the world!" So declares Fodor's Guide to New England. They could have said the same of Champlin's fried clams or their lobster. You can even pick your own lobster at the market downstairs for eating upstairs. While it's cooking, prepare your taste buds with a bowl of lobster bisque ($2.75), a creamy version with pureed lobster meat and a hot pepper zing. Or grab a seat at the bar and have your fill of cherrystones on the half-shell (75 cents each, $8.75 for 13).
